| Unit Description |
| This unit introduces Chinese language, with particular reference to
the terms used in CM. It provides an overview of Chinese language,
specific instruction in the reading, writing and pronunciation of
CM terms, and basic conversation in Mandarin, covering greeting
people and self-introduction. The use of the pin yin system of
romanisation is examined in detail in order to enable students to
accurately spell and pronounce common CM terms. The reading
and writing of characters is introduced and students learn to use
the main types of dictionaries. |
