This unit looks at the development of Chinese Medicine by way of
exploring its historical and philosophical origins and the process
of acculturation that has led to the adaptation of different styles
of Chinese medicine both within China and abroad. Underpinning
this study will be the various socio-political and philosophical
influences that have affected this evolution. Of particular reference
will be a study of the Huang Di nei Jing, The Yellow Emperor?s
Cannon of Medicine, as an historical text of seminal importance.
