| This unit introduces the study of the CM classics particularly
relevant to the study of Chinese herbal medicine including the
Shang Han Lun and the Wen Bing Xue. These classics constitute
the source material for much of CM Herbal theory and practice, so
it is essential that students acquire a familiarity with the history,
structure and scope of these works. For the Shang Han Lun, the
focus is upon Six Channel theory and a review of the identification
and treatment of key syndromes. For the Wen Bing Xue, the focus
is upon Four level theory and a review of the identification and
treatment of key syndromes. For both of these seminal works
emphasis is placed on those formulas which remain in common
use and have often been adapted to explain the pathology of
many contemporary disease states. |
