| This unit develops systems of differentiation of syndromes
according to the Chinese medicine model as a basis for a more
sophisticated method of diagnosis and treatment. The principal
symptoms and disease mechanisms associated with the CM
diagnostic patterns (zheng) are studied and differential diagnosis
by pattern discrimination is used to identify the appropriate
treatment strategy. The Eight Parameter (ba gang) and six
exogenous pathogen (bin ying bian zheng) systems are revised
and examined in conjunction with the primary focus of this subject,
that is, pattern differentiation according to Qi , Blood and Body
fluids, (Qi, Xue bian zheng) and Organ pattern differentiation
(zang/fu bian zheng). Finally an introduction to pattern
differentiation according to febrile diseases (liujing bian zheng,
wei qi ying xue bian zheng, san jiao bian zheng) is covered, as a
precursor to the more extensive study of this topic in CM Classics. Finally an introduction to pattern differentiation according to febrile diseases (liujing bian zheng, wei qi ying xue bian zheng, san jiao bian zheng) is covered, as a precursor to the more extensive study of this topic in TCM Classics. |
