General Entry Requirements

To be eligible for entry into a Southern School degree course, applicants must demonstrate an interest in complementary medicine, a commitment to study and a genuine motivation to enter the profession.

MATURE-AGE APPLICANTS are defined as having left school more than twelve months prior to entry. These applicants will also be assessed on life and work experience.

SCHOOL-LEAVER APPLICANTS are required to have successfully completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or its equivalent. A minimum ENTER will be applied to ensure that applicants are of a suitable standard to be capable of successful completion of an SSNT degree course. 

Full-time Entry for Semester 1

Prospective students wishing to study full-time at the start of the academic year should

1) Apply through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) by listing the Southern School as their first preference of fee-paying courses. The cheapest and easiest way of submitting this application is via the website on www.vtac.edu.au. Prior to your application, please refer to the VTAC Information link on your current SSNT web page. This will give you further details, such as VTAC application deadlines and the appropriate VTAC course code. 

2) Call Southern School on 9415-3333 to make an appointment for a Selection Interview with the Head of Department appropriate to the course of your choice. Alternatively, you can send us a completed Expression of Interest Form so that we may contact you with an appointment time. This appointment also provides an opportunity to ask questions which are relevant to your particular situation. You do not need to wait for your VTAC notification before booking your appointment. By coming in earlier, you avoid the rush and gain additional insight into study at Southern School.

Part-time or Mid-Year Entry

Prospective students planning to commence in Semester 2, or those starting in either semester who do not wish to study the full load of subjects (i.e. Part-time) should

1) Apply directly to Southern School. There is no requirement for this group to apply through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). 

2) Call Southern School on 9415-3333 to make an appointment for a Selection Interview with the Head of Department appropriate to the course of your choice. Alternatively, you can send us a completed Expression of Interest Form so that we may contact you with an appointment time. This appointment also provides an opportunity to ask questions which are relevant to your particular situation.

Enrolment Procedure

After the interview has taken place, acceptable ‘direct’ applicants will be given a Registration Form. VTAC applicants will need to wait until they receive their VTAC Letter of Offer to contact the School and request the form (provided they have already completed their interview).  Applicants should then complete the Registration Form and return with the following documentation:

* Certified copy of Passport, Birth Certificate or Australian Citizenship
* Certified copies of school results, certificates, diplomas, degrees etc.
* A passport-sized photograph
* A cheque for the $200.00 application fee. This fee is Non-Refundable, but will be  deducted from the first unit in which the student enrols
* Certified copy of driver’s licence (if available)

Once the completed Registration Form is received, SSNT will send details advising the applicant of times and procedures for enrolling into the subjects required for their particular course. The applicant is supported throughout the enrolment process with written information culminating in a personal advisory appointment directly prior to enrolment.
