
Introduction to Naturopathy Certificate
This 30-week course offers an introduction to naturopathic nutrition and herbal medicine, and is valuable for personal interest, retail assistants in the health food industry, pharmacy assistants, physical fitness trainers, and weight-loss consultants.
Obtain the qualification by attending one evening each week over two fifteen-week semesters, completing the required units: Introduction to Herbal Medicine and Introduction to Nutrition. You will gain insights into how to enhance the health of yourself and others, and have access to state-of-the-art resources including the Student Clinic, herb garden and library.
Learn about the medicinal use of herbs with The Introduction to Herbal Medicine, including herbal preparations, herb quality, dosage, contraindications and cautions. Acquire knowledge of common medicinal herbs, treatment of common health disorders, and participate in practical herbal pharmacy sessions, demonstrating the manufacture of herbal preparations.
The Introduction to Nutrition covers essential nutrients and their health effects, and the recommended intakes of protein, carbohydrates, fats, water, vitamins and minerals. With this unit you will learn about nutritional supplements, the health benefits of specific foods and eating plans, and the effects of food preparation and processing methods on nutritional quality.
